Forsythia

Forsythia in the front yard. It would benefit from a good hard pruning.

Washed-out Leaf

I saw a glimpse of white from across the yard. I thought it was piece of plastic, one of those horrible shopping bags, caught on a downed branch. When I went to pick it up for the trash I saw this leaf. I was not able to capture the translucency of the leaf.

Hydrangeas not deadheaded

I let them go too long. If you look closely you can see where new buds are coming out. Those green buds will sprout the flowers for this year. I can't fix the problem but I can still cut off the dead blooms to just above the new buds.

Trees at Night

I love the sky that I see around my house. At night I love the look of the trees against the sky. Actually I also like the sunlight coming through those same trees. There is a clear area just around the house and then the circle of trees. Some nights the moon is so bright that it leaves light paths on my floors.

Every snow twig underlined

There is something about branches heaped with snow. This set of branches in particular kept pulling my eyes back. It was as if the snow was the branches and the twigs were an added underlining. As if someone had painstakingly used a Sharpie to trace the underneath of each branchlet.
